You can borrow club equipment to practice for a $5.00 fee.

These are the core steps you learned in the BAC — and what you’ll focus on as you build consistency:

  1. Stance

  2. Nocking the Arrow

  3. String Hand

  4. Bow Hand

  5. Drawing the Bow

  6. Anchor

Learning, equipment and competitions

Member info sessions (run across the year)

From time to time, club members may run short sessions on topics like:

  • Equipment maintenance and bow tuning (rest adjustment, sight tuning, brace height, etc.)

  • Scoring and different rounds (including introductory Field and Clout)

  • Rules, range etiquette and line procedures

  • Bow assembly and take-down

  • Arrow repair (including fitting/gluing points and fletching — often last Saturday of the month)

  • Shooting in different conditions (wind, light, weather)

  • Tournament readiness: what to enter, when, and how to register

Buying your own equipment

Many members begin looking to purchase their own equipment after the first couple of months of regular shooting. The club coach can help ensure you buy equipment that suits your body, budget, and goals.

Competitions

Your first competitions will often be at your own club. We run handicapped Club Matchplay, so all archers can compete at a distance suited to their current ability — and it’s a great way to learn competition rules in a friendly environment.
